 We are pleased to announce that IFMA Chesapeake was recognized as the Small Chapter of the Year at the 2019 World Workplace Conference in Phoenix. Seventeen chapter members attended the conference this year and were honored to accept the award on behalf of the chapter.

The award recognizes the chapter of 200 members or less that excels in membership marketing, professional development and communications. Additionally, the chapter must meet or exceed membership expectations, be fiscally responsible, communicate to their membership a clear strategic plan and implement its action items. They must also maintain quality growth, be innovative in raising funds, and have a high percentage of members attending and participating in meetings. 

We extend a big thank you to Past President Ed Fraczkowski who initiated the application process. Board members contributed content as well to round out the winning application. We look forward to another amazing year!

New Date and Location! 
Win a Trip to World Workplace 2021 in Kissimmee, Florida from October 26-28, 2021!

The Chapter continually strives to supply resources, information, and experiences to our valued facilities manager members. As a way to recognize and reward our most engaged FM member of the 2020 - 2021 year, the Chapter is offering registration to attend World Workplace, the world’s largest series of facility management conferences and expositions, and $465 towards travel/hotel expenses. We will announce the winner at the Annual Meeting on June 24, 2021. We hope that you are excited about this opportunity and that you will submit a brief summary, per the instructions below, in order to attend the conference at a reduced rate to you.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a Professional FM Member of IFMA Chesapeake Chapter
  • Must be a first-time attendee to World Workplace
  • Must be actively involved with the Chapter

To be considered, please submit a summary of no more than 500 words, to include:

  • Your name, brief work history, current career position and plans for the future in FM
  • Share a significant career achievement
  • Share involvement you may have, or had, in a significant project/organizational achievement
  • Benefits that you have received from your membership in IFMA, from both the Chesapeake Chapter and IFMA international
  • Tell us WHY you would like to attend World Workplace 2021
  • Your plans for future involvement with the chapter

IFMA & AAWDC Partnership - Training Update

The International Facilities Management Association's, "Essentials of Facilities Management", course was offered in partnership with Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation at the Anne Arundel County Career Center in Linthicum Heights, from Sept 9-12, 2019. This is the second successful IFMA designed and delivered training at the Center in the past 18 months. The training was taught by IFMA members, Gary Pfeifer and Joe Versey, and included a special section on blueprint reading, in addition to the 10 modules Essentials of Facilities Management curriculum. The training was funded through a State of Maryland workforce grant focused on increasing and enhancing the construction industry pipeline of skilled workers. Eight students, from a variety of professional backgrounds, attended the training with aspirations of entering or moving up within the FM Industry. The students were very appreciative of the training and are hoping to attend IFMA networking events and undertake additional IFMA certificate courses in the future.
